Position Summary:

Sapient Logic has a career opening for a Senior-level Network Engineer to support the Joint Fires Network (JFN) program in San Diego, CA. At Sapient Logic, we welcome individuals who are open minded, think “outside the box”, and are eager to explore new challenges.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree and 10 years of IT Networking experience; OR a Bachelor’s degree with 13 years of IT Networking experience; OR an Associates degree and 15 years of IT Networking experience; OR a High School Diploma/GED and 17 years of IT Networking experience is required 
  • Four (4) years experience engineering network and/or firewall solutions for CANES. 
  • CCNA certification.  CCNP certification is preferred.  
  • Experience with Software Defined Network (SDN) 
  • Understanding of SDN and SD-WAN concepts and solutions and their deployment, including underlay/overlay, ISIS, VXLAN, DTLS, TLOC, policy development and enforcement, DNA Center, vManage/vBond/vSmart/vEdge 
  • Proficiency with SDN controllers like OpenDaylight, ONOS, and Cisco ACI 
  • Proficiency in Python 
  • Experience in Ansible is desired 
  • Experience with firewalls and Internet VPN’s remote implementation 
  • In-depth understanding of and ability to implement/troubleshoot Cisco QoS (classification, marking, shaping, policing) 
  • In-depth knowledge of dynamic routing protocols and switching technologies such as EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, HSRP, NHRP, GRE, DMVPN, PAgP, LACP, VTP, CDP, CEF, VLANS, STP, OTV, TACACS, Radius, NetFlow, QoS, 802.1x 
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex routing and switching issues in both a LAN / WAN environment 
  • Ability to manage fellow engineers 
  • OPERATING SYSTEMS: Linux, Windows 10, Windows Server 2016 or greater 
  • HARDWARE: Cisco switches, routers, and firewalls 
  • DoD TS/SCI Clearance is required
  • U.S. Citizenship is required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, configure, and install network infrastructure in support of customer requirements 
  • Configure and operate network switches, routers, and firewalls 
  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise SD-WAN solutions across different sites and cloud environments. 
  • Perform troubleshooting analysis of network infrastructure 
  • Create and implement network security measures 
  • Deal with escalated network support issues 
  • Generate network status reports 
  • Script network configurations via Ansible 
  • Conduct and monitor network performance (availability, utilization, throughput, and latency) and test for weaknesses 
  • Document internal processes and procedures related to duties and responsibilities 
  • Manage fellow network engineers and provide guidance on their respective duties

  • 8-hour shift

Salary: 

  • $150,000-170,000
